About

Hi, I’m April Ibarra!

My journey in the field of aging began at the age of twenty when I started teaching exercise classes for residents in a nursing home. I quickly fell in love with older adults, connecting deeply with their wisdom and strength. This passion led me to study Wellness and Gerontology at Miami University, where I became determined to help everyone age well by designing and delivering fitness programs through a hospital-based wellness department.

With 35 years of dedicated experience in healthcare, I am a passionate gerontologist focused on empowering aging adults. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with older adults at various life stages, inspiring them to embrace a vibrant and fulfilling “third act” where age is just a number and possibilities are endless.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Wellness and a Master’s degree in Gerontology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. As a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® and a proud member of the Aging Life Care Association, I am committed to helping individuals make informed decisions about their health and well-being. I also hold a certification in Foundation for Wellness from the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA).

I believe aging is a unique and valuable part of life, and I am dedicated to promoting active, vibrant aging for everyone. Recognizing the challenges many older adults face, including chronic illness, physical frailties, and cognitive declines, I founded Aging Advisor, LLC to provide personalized support and guidance throughout the aging journey. My client-centered approach fosters collaboration with families and care professionals, creating customized, holistic plans that reflect individual preferences, values, and needs.

As the Chief Aging Officer at Aging Advisor, I offer comprehensive support to older adults and their families. My passion for enhancing the quality of life for older adults has driven my advocacy work and led me to found Aging Advisor, LLC, where I continue to support older adults and their care partners in my community.
